African-American ladies with natural hair: How to best take care of my natural curls?

I have really long hair for a black person I do not use perms or realxer I either flat iron or hot comb my hair once every two weeks becuase to much heat can burn your hair. My hair is to the middle of my back and I NEVER EVER get weave or let anybody else do my hair
